As the weather cools and we get into Autumn in Victoria, this is the time we look forward to our first Rob Roy Hillclimb for the year hosted by the Victorian Historic Racing Register. There was some doubt that this event would be held, as a result entries weren't invited until the last moment so numbers were down. Previous rain had cleaned the track and with a tail wind we all hoped for good times up the hill.
With only fifty two cars competing, this took the pressure of the organizers and we could rotate through our runs smoothly. We seemed to be only half an hour out of our cars after the previous run before we were summoned back to lineup in the mashalling area. As the day progressed the number of spectators increased, who came out to enjoy the action and mild weather.
In my class, Austin 7 Racing, we were represented by only three cars, John Marriott and Glen Bishop in their 'open-wheelers' and myself in my 1928 'sports'. My other racing car being out of action due to the flywheel trying to get away from its crankshaft. For those interested in the day's results, they are posted on the Victorian Historic Racing Register's website: www.vhrr.com
