Richard Abey visits Motorclassica
Written by Richard Abey
Last week, Motormarques was very pleased to receive this following letter from Paul Mathers. Dear Bill, After 18 months of planning, three overseas trips, countless phone calls, over 200 applications and several stressful and sleepless nights, it's finally here. I was speaking to a collector the other day who said that "it's about time we had an event like this". In fact I hear that a lot. So we have responded and worked very hard to bring you the type of event of which you, the collector and enthusiast, can be proud. Now you just need to get along and see one of the finest collections of automobiles ever assembled in Australia under one roof. Motorclassica has something for everyone - whether you love pre-war vintage cars or 70's Aussie muscle cars, former racing cars or modern-day supercars, one-off prototypes or 100-point restorations - there will be something to suit your taste. Meet racing legends like Stirling Moss and Melbourne's own, Bob Jane, find that lost bit of automobilia at the Expo or bid on your own classic at the Shannons auction. The cars are ready. The exhibitors are ready. The venue is ready. And on Friday afternoon, we open our doors to you. Are you ready? Yours in motoring, Paul Mathers Richard Abey went along to the Royal Exhibitions Building, Carlton, Melbourne, and brought back these very fine pictures
